macabre: the cathedral is crumbling. the face of god’s son is cracked in the high window, and the statues have no arms or throats or heads. an angel’s chorus echoes from the walls, the floor, the dais. no angels, just skeletons, just the not-alive. but also, their eyes are not quite dead. they never blink.
